Augustin Smith Clayton Documents

Augustin Smith Clayton was a politician in Georgia who played a minor role in several major events during the Jacksonian period, including Indian Removal from Georgia, Jackson’s Bank War, Nullification, and formation of the Whig Party in opposition to Andrew Jackson. He is my current research topic, and I have collected a number of documents either created by him, or that discuss him. All should prove helpful to getting an understanding of Jacksonian America from someone who was important, but not among the top tier of political elite of the country.
